Game Story

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Juan Rivera had two hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Columbus Clippers past the Charlotte Knights, 6-2. Rivera hit an RBI double and scored in his first inning and added an run-scoring groundout in the sixth to give Columbus a 5-2 lead. Bobby Smith doubled in a run in the first frame and Drew Henson, who has driven in a run in four straight games, crushed a two-out homer in the fifth for the Clippers, who have won seven of their last 10 games. Jorge De Paula (3-4) allowed two runs, scattered five hits and struck out four batters in six innings to earn the win and Adrian Hernandez fanned three over three innings of one-hit ball to pick up his first save. Ross Gload had a pair of hits, including a solo homer, and Joe Borchard added an RBI for Charlotte, which has lost six straight. Mike Porzio (4-1) surrendered five runs, eight hits and issued five walks in 5 1/3 innings to suffer the loss for the Knights.
